Frequently asked questions
The things people ask most often. If your question isn't here, each tool page has its own FAQ with specifics.
The basics
Is it actually free?+
Yes, properly free. Every tool works without a subscription, a trial, or a credit card, and there's no daily cap on how many files you can run. We don't stamp a watermark on your results either.
Do I need to create an account?+
No. You can use any tool straight away — no sign-up, no login, no email required. Just open the tool and go.
Is there a catch?+
Not really. The tools are free to use; we keep the lights on through unobtrusive ads, not by locking features behind a paywall or selling your data.
Does it work on my phone?+
It runs in any modern browser, so a phone, tablet, Chromebook, Mac, or Windows PC all work the same way. There's nothing to install.
Files, sizes & formats
What's the maximum file size?+
Most PDF tools handle files up to 100MB, and image tools up to 50MB. If your file is bigger than the limit, splitting or compressing it first usually does the trick.
Which file formats can I use?+
PDF, Word (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), common images (JPG, PNG, WebP, SVG), and HTML, depending on the tool. Each tool page lists exactly what it accepts.
Can I compress a file to an exact size, like 100KB?+
Yes. The compression tools have a target-size mode — type the size you need and the tool works down to it. There are also dedicated pages for common targets if you'd rather go straight there.
Can I process more than one file at once?+
Many tools support batches — the image compressors and converters take up to 10 files at a time, and the merge and JPG-to-PDF tools take 20. Single-file tools are noted on their pages.
Security & privacy
Are my files safe?+
Uploads and downloads happen over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and your files are deleted from our servers automatically a short time after they're processed. We don't browse, share, or hold on to your documents.
Do you keep or read my documents?+
No. Files exist only long enough to run the tool you asked for, then they're removed automatically. Nobody reviews them.
Is it safe for sensitive documents like contracts or IDs?+
The encrypted transfer and automatic deletion are designed exactly for that. If a document is highly sensitive, you can also delete the job yourself as soon as you've downloaded the result.
Using the tools
How do I edit a PDF?+
It depends what you mean by edit. To change the text, convert it to Word, edit, and convert back. To rearrange pages, use Organize PDF. To remove or pull out pages, use the Remove Pages and Extract Pages tools. To sign it, use Sign PDF.
My scanned PDF won't convert to editable text — why?+
A scan is an image of a page, not real text, so a normal converter has nothing to read. Run it through OCR PDF first to turn the picture into selectable text, then convert it.
Will converting or compressing lower my quality?+
Page extraction, merging, splitting, and rotation keep your original quality untouched. Compression is a trade-off by nature, but the tools aim for the smallest size that still looks clean — and you control how far it goes.
